Jessica, 2008

J is for Jessica, jumping around

E is for everyone glad for her sound

S  is for silence, which she can do, too

S is for holding her breath ‘til she’s blue!

I is for itching to get a straight A’s

C is for Calming all the Ms. Rays

A is for always, and always and always.  The times that she will succeed.

Nathan McNutt, 2008

Nathan McNutt

If I had to do it all over again,

I’d say to Nathan McNutt:

Today we don’t read or write,

Let’s fish and break out of our rut!!

His crazy noises and running mind

Would stop in less than a minute:

If I could JUST say to Mr. Mcnutt,

The fish are biting, get in it!

I’d see a whole different man,

A completely different boy,

For we tend to be pleasant,

when we find our joy.

Then we’d read the tide tables

And write a fish play

he’d love language arts,

And make fish out of clay.

Chris P, 2008

HEY!  Chris!

Hey Chris Palmer, who are you?

And who are you hoping to be?

With hair down to here, and pants

Down to there,

Who are you wishing to be?

You have quite a chance, and you know

Through romance,

That if you want to, you can do it.

What you decide will be so,

Don’tlet book learning go,

Remember,

your words will get you

that girl.

Maryssa

Maryssa is all about

Maryssa is grade nine.

Maryssa is quite sure that her

qualities are sublime.

Angry face jumps across the room

Daggers in her eyes,

The snarl, the growl, the low pitched howl

Everywhere, darkened skies

Maryssa isabout moving on

But she works at minimum speed.

Maryssa hates her name misspelled

Her anger it will feed.

Dylan P, 2008

Dylan P.

Dylan is a complex creature

With new shoes every day.

He feels so poor but looks so rich

He is on his way.

Loud and fresh and in your face.

Always getting in your space

Responsibility for his

Naughty deeds? No.

Dylan groans and Dylan pleads.

Dylan is a complex boy who will someday grow.

Victoria

Like a waterfall of fresh colors

Victoria exercises her right to

Dye her hair

Whatever color

She feels necessary.

With an intellect as huge

As her boots, and a heart

That will break

When Steve says goodbye

‘A’ is for Aaron

And that’s what he earns every time.

His diligence usually pays off.

He puts his shoulder to the grindstone

And understands metaphors

Better than most.

Nikki Bohart

Nikki runs like a gazelle

Across the terrain.

Flying as though her

Life depended on

Grace and stamina.

Long will she live:

Her head neatly topping

Her shoulders,

Her life as a simile.

Deven, 2008

Deven

I am truly sorry that

I was unable to entice you from

Riding your skateboard up hill without a helmet

Into a world where learning has

                           A front row seat and

                           Caring and respect

                           Are verbs and not

                           Dreams.

I grieve for the loss                    of

                           A heart and soul

                           But I know that your

                           Agenda is yours.

And life will answer your questions.

(Please wear your helmet)

Walks with his head held high.

He knows he knows

Wherever he goes

Or else he won’t go there.

Dallas Sollitto

Sollitto

Works hard to hide his pain

He talks quite loud

And he is quite proud

And he is here everyday

Leaves an echo wherever he goes

Move him here

Move him there

He is always everywhere.

Hardened heart with

Slimey slithers,

This young fellow

Gives the shivers.

If he smiles, you wonder why

If he frowns, you see the guy.

Young but old, and way

Too cold

With a sense of pride

That will never slide.

Respect him, discipline,

Write him up,

He’ll act the same,

No matter what.

I wonder, who the heck are you?

I can't tell when I look in your eyes.

Some sadness,

some badness,

some overriding madness

and always the

 innocence.

Your power is hovering closely around you,

and fades

when your tummy hurts.

Take good care of that girl you are

And when you find out who she is,

You’ll be

Happy to know her!

Brea, 2008

Brea

Brea is a beautiful butterfly, in a field

Of alliteration.

She dances lightly with her muse and finds

 she

Must put on the brakes,

 and ask twice what

The world wants from her.

Some songs sung to a

beat we don’t hear,

She smiles and she moves her head,

Eyes closed, with creativity as her partner in the dance.

Knowing and doing are not the

Same, and Brea senses this,

Digging her heels in, she tries not

To please the teacher, but can’t help it

She always does.

life isn't a fairy tale with a happy ending and a fart.

grab it where you find it,

and hold it when you can,  happy is here and

passes and things

never

change.

But jacob will be mr. hall before he blinks

twice

and he will be reminding his young ones that

that life isn't always nice.

Through no thought of my own I called you that, I called you

Angel face.

Rebecca, could it be that you are   a saint, a martyr, an angel fallen from grace?

Or maybe my memory of names is quite poor, and instead of Dave

The new name I gave…..

But words are power and sweeter you are, since I knew you as

Angel face.

your long dark hair, your effervescent smile, as well as your exceptional grace It all adds up to one wonderful thing, your beautiful

angel face.

Jasmine, 2008

Jasmine

A melody of love, and hurt, and pain,

Jasmine seeks just one refrain.

Life offers her more hard than not

But she keeps on, when things get hot.

Jasmine’s heart wants to know

Which direction she should go.

She looks for right, but trips on wrong.

Which one will finally be her song?

Will shelight the world with the beauty of right?

Or seek  her shelter in the dark of the night?
